The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving the development of Seattle and national Lean culture at Skanska, for facilitating Kaizen events, Pull Scheduling sessions and RPIWs, and for managing the national Lean budget. Travel of up to 10% is expected.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Seattle’s Lean committee;
  • Co-chair Skanska’s National Lean Committee;
  • Facilitate Rapid Process Improvement Workshops, locally and nationally;
  • Facilitate local Kaizen events;
  • Facilitate local Pull Scheduling Sessions;
  • Create and deliver national Lean training;
  • Support national marketing efforts by providing Lean content;
  • Develop internal and external communication regarding Skanska’s national Lean efforts;
  • Represent Skanska at the annual Lean Construction Institute Congress;
  • Share outcomes of RPIWs with other Skanska offices;
  • Champion national Lean culture at Skanska;
  • Create and maintain a Lean reference guide;
  • Develop Lean training videos on the Skanska Learning Center website;
  • Assist with training and development of Lean RPIW in selected cities;
  • Develop the Lean information sharing portal including best practices for RPIW, Kaizens, etc.;
  • Develop content for the client-facing Lean section on the Skanska homepage;
  • Create and maintain Lean content on the Washington Teamsite;
  • Develop strategy for growth and development of Lean programs nationally;
  • Continuously evaluate improvement metrics;
  • Co-manage process-owners and team leaders of RPIWs;
  • Travel to other offices as needed to build Lean programs and culture;
  • Check in / follow up with process owners after weekly events;
  • Deliver presentations to external clients on Skanska’s Lean program to support business development efforts;
  • Manage Skanska’s national Lean budget;
  • Provide local operational support and project management as time allows (contracts, buyout, etc.).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with external clients;
  • Curriculum creation and facilitation skills;
  • Ability to build relationships and influence leaders in other regions;
  • Deep understanding of Lean Management;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite;
  • Must have strong sense of initiative;
  • Project management skills;
  • Analytical mindset / data driven;
  • Must be comfortable working in ambiguity;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Function effectively as part of a team;
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Lean Training or Certification preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • 5-7 years of construction experience;
  • 5 years of Lean management experience;
