The Head of Project Delivery will have enterprise-wide responsibility for the direction and delivery of capital projects, associated standards and design, alliance and vendor management, construction management, and the engineering project management office.

This role will utilize creative problem-solving skills to drive efficiency in CSL programs, processes, practices, and initiatives needed to deliver capital projects, manage the external partner ecosystem, and performance management.

This position partners with End-to-End Operations team members, including Manufacturing Site Heads, members of the Network Strategy & Operational Excellence, Quality and EHSS teams, support functions and the Global Engineering Leadership Team to:

  • Align on the regional capital project portfolio to ensure realization of the asset strategy to meet objectives.
  • Develop business cases for capital projects to ensure the right projects are delivered at the right cost and the right time, with minimal business impact and optimal sustainability.
  • Ensure regional capital projects of are delivered on time, within budget and scope, and meeting safety and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure oversight and governance for project approvals, cost, schedule, delivery and strategic partner relationships.
  • Drive the implementation of an alliance and vendor management strategy, reducing CSL’s total number of vendors and leveraging a partner ecosystem.
  • Direct the development of appropriate standards and designs aligned to existing standards and guidance along with industry best practices
  • Implement a project management office capability to oversee all key engineering projects and include integration of external suppliers, contract administration, KPIs and analytics.
  • Leverage best practices, experience, knowledge management and create a sustainable system and workforce planning with continuous learning and innovation.
  • Lead with purpose to encourage employees to embrace change and create alliances.


BS/BA in Business, Engineering, and/or Design & Construction with a preference for expertise in mechanical, electrical, environmental, or related field. MBA desirable, as is certifications in Six Sigma, Lean or Operational Excellence.

  • Demonstrated success with at least 15+ years of experience in design and construction, either as a client or service provider, and ideally in biopharma, life sciences or another highly FDA-regulated industry. Strong experience providing direction to architecture, engineering and construction management and general construction firms -- and having accountability for service provider executive relationships.
  • 20+ years business experience in progressively more responsible roles. Bring a generalist perspective from multiple experiences in corporate business environments, ideally with depth of expertise in design and construction, project management and facilities management. At least 20 years of leading multi-disciplinary teams and directly managing people. Experience leading leaders and organizations with a significant internal workforce and external providers.
  • Exceptional leader — able to inspire and motivate teams to make a big impact and deliver their best every day. Significant experience leading the development and realization of vision, strategy and new operating models. Must have successfully held a regional and/or global scope position. Track-record of having the courage to drive change, while balancing risks and pacing for success.
  • Outstanding analytical, negotiation and change leadership skills and financial acumen: capable of analyzing financial, quantitative and/or qualitative data and translating into high-impact insights and recommendations, particularly in optimizing the delivery of large capital projects.
  • Experience managing a significant capital budgets across the world and in diverse regulations and market constraints, meeting financial targets, and driving cost-savings with “make-or-buy” strategies and building up strategical partnership to optimize resources, cost, time to deliver and ROI.
  • Demonstrated success consistently meeting performance metrics.
  • Proven leadership organizational and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the following competencies at the executive level with a high level of change leadership, engagement, partnership within the industry:
  • Curiosity for new technology to be internally leveraged
  • Experience in a globally matrix organization where large capital projects were successfully achieved
  • High ethical and anticorruption values
  • Travel as necessary to meet the requirements of the global role
