We are looking for a Preconstruction Manager to join our client in Cincinnati, OH.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, as Preconstruction Manager you will manage the process and resources that provide quality preconstruction services to clients, and review the progress of existing projects to ensure their completion within the parameters of the established project budget. Specifically, you will:

  • Use your knowledge of local construction pricing and relationships (trade partners, designers, & clients) at all levels.
  • Develop estimates for projects of all sizes and complexity for exterior envelope, civil and structural elements at concept and detailed levels of design.
  • Developing knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Use your expertise in quantity surveying and pricing work in both conceptual and detailed design phases.
  • Confidently market, pre-sell, sell, present the importance of preconstruction services to internal and external clients.
  • Train and develop less experienced team members.
  • Manages and removes risk from preconstruction budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage a team of estimators establishing a preconstruction work plan that defines deliverables and responsibilities for assigned estimators.

What We Seek In a Preconstruction Manager

  • MUST HAVE Healthcare, Higher Ed experience. Life sciences experience is a bonus.
  • MUST HAVE been the leader who signed off on estimates with their name vs. “assisted”.
  • MUST HAVE project experience in the $50M range, and $100M range would be a bonus.
  • The ability to balance personally doing the work and delegation based on needs, available resources (quantity survey, unit pricing, authoring scopes of work, scoping subs, etc.).
  • Experience with lean construction and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • At least 8-12 years of estimating experience or equivalent / applicable engineering and field/operations experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent / applicable degree.
  • Proficiency in selected company software (Sage Timberline, OST, Bluebeam, Revit, Procore, Prolog, Timberline, Paydirt, etc.).
