Position Summary: This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities relating to project management, strategic planning, and client customer service. The Director of Mechanical Field Operations is expected to assist with the day-today operations of the AZ Team, supporting plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives to insure maximum operating results. Develop and maintain inter-department collaboration ensuring that all team members are supportive and mindful of a unified performance objective.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight, guidance, support, and leadership to AZ Team Members
  • Initiate continuous improvement objectives and embrace technology enhancements
  • Promote, foster and maintain open communication among all team members, consultants inspectors, applicable agencies, and the supporting subcontractors and trade participants
  • Adherence to Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies and Best Practices in the deployment of all work-related activities
  • Maintain all Corporate Standards with applicable Project Control requirements to ensure financial and administrative responsibility, in conjunction with risk management
  • Provide project finance management oversight for all Team project commitments, contract changes, and claim resolution for all out-of-scope services to insure conformance with Corporate Standards
  • Evaluation of client/project specific concerns, site protocols, safety requirements, logistic planning or other influences that may affect productivity, scheduling, working hours, staffing levels, subcontractor prequalification, utilization or the like
  • Participate in required peer reviews with project team members providing insight and confirmation regarding productivity factors, assembly breakdown structures, constructability evaluations alternative means and methods, general condition build up factors, and scope of service definition for associated qualifications, clarifications, and conditions in support of project proposals
  • Assist the Corporate Quality Control Manager in the development of Team specific written QA/QC Procedures
  • Quality Control oversight to ensure field compliance with project specifications and technical requirements
  • Coordinate and support all project close-out, start up and training in accordance with facility management best practice standards and technical requirements that are outlined within the project performance specifications
  • Participate in lessons learned sessions, operational development initiatives, and best practice training to support a continuous improvement working philosophy
  • Maintain a willingness to reinvest yourself with continuing education and professional development initiatives (i.e., industry related technology advancements, LEED Certification, 30 Hour OSHA Certification Etc.)
  • Explore and implement efficiency improvements including prefabrication and Lean construction techniques


Position Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
  • Strict adherence to all safety rules and quality
  • Interact with all co-workers and clients in an attentive courteous manner
  • At times may perform clerical/administrative duties
  • Work with A/Z Human Resources internal recruiter and Operations Manager to create a focused effort aimed at attracting the best talent for the team
  • Support and enforce the A/Z safety philosophy with salary and hourly employees
  • In concert with the Operations Manager, manage field trade staff resource allocation
  • Work with HR and Safety to support new employee training and orientation
  • Monitoring of filed staff license compliance including education, multi-state licensing, apprentice ratios etc.
  • Explore, coordinate and/or lead continuing education opportunities for field trades and project managers
  • Evaluate reduction of field staff through the lack of work or termination process (with Operations Manager’s approval)
  • Support annual field employee evaluation and review process
  • Support/manage/up-hold the A/Z policy to be “Best in Class” by insuring field staff conduct themselves as professionals and insure their appearance is in the line with this philosophy at all times
  • Work with Asset Manager & Repair Technician to monitor the care of corporate assets and evaluate new requests
  • Assist the other business development activities of the corporation including preconstruction and tactical approaches for project delivery, ensuring a customer-centric focus, client interaction, and presentation assistance
  • Assist the Marketing Department with formal proposal development and presentation requirements, as required
  • Maintain a knowledge of the local contracting and labor market, monitoring market influences
  • Provide a pro-active and positive Client interface throughout the delivery of services


Required Skills /Training Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of Field experience
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • High-School Diploma
